Our Story

In 2018, our founder Dashawn was diagnosed with lupus, a moment that changed everything. Life became a daily challenge, both physically and financially. Simple routines felt impossible, and stability seemed out of reach.

That experience inspired something bigger, the Lupus Day Foundation. Built on compassion and community, our organization was founded with one belief: that real change begins when people come together to lift one another. What started as a few volunteers determined to make a difference has grown into a movement dedicated to empowering individuals with lupus, connecting them to care, and helping them rebuild their lives with dignity, opportunity, and hope.

Mission

The Lupus Day Foundation is dedicated to empowering, uplifting, and advocating for individuals living with lupus, especially those in Lycoming County who face limited access to specialized medical care, support groups, and tailored educational resources. Our mission is to raise awareness, advance policies that support lupus patients, and expand opportunities for direct support and financial assistance.

Vision

Our vision is to build a community where every individual affected by lupus in Lycoming County has equal access to specialized care, comprehensive support systems, and empowering opportunities for wellbeing and success. We aim to remove barriers to treatment, connect people with inclusive resources, and inspire lasting change, so that no one faces lupus alone or without the support and tools needed to thrive.
